I am one of many who have been using politics as an excuse to ignore this rapidly growing agony. I pledge no longer to do so. This pain is so much greater than any ideology and deserves to be honored by individuals and by our government. Thank you for your courage in sharing. Know you have changed the world. You are supported and you are loved.

Dear Windy and Nick, My thoughts and prayers go out to to you both. My father was a Marine durning Vietnam and suffered from PTSD when I was a kid. I remember one 4th of July my dad completely freaked out during the fireworks and thought he was back in the war. After he snapped out of it he had no recollection of what had happened and my mom and us kids were terrified. Seeing this first hand, I know what the effects of PTSD can do to a person. The military needs to help our men and women who serve in Iraq and Afghanistan adjust to coming home after seeing the terrible things that happen over there. I just want you both to know that you have my love and support during this difficult time. God Bless you both!

I just grieve for you and your family for what has happened. It disgusts me when I think about all the ads to coax people into "serving" our country, making it seem almost glamorous. What they never put into the ads are the risks involved and the aftermath of war. Our soldiers should be treated with respect and honor when they return. After what they have been through our government should bend over backward and aid them. They may have come back "alive" but a part of them was killed by their experiences in combat. Treatment should not only be limited to the returning soldiers, but to the extended family as well. It saddens me to see that our soldiers, our war heroes, the ones who protect us and other nations as well are all too often..discarded after they have been "used". My heart goes out to you and my prayers will be for you. Thank you and your family for your willingness to have sacrificed of yourselves for others. The Lord bless you and guide you through these difficult times.

This Thanksgiving I thank God for all the men and women with the strength and intregrity to stand up and fight for the freedoms we all enjoy and often take for granted. I pray that the American people will hear these stories and rise up against our government and force them to take care of these brave people as they return from combat. We are trusting them with our children and they are returning them to us damaged and in need of health care. This is a necessity, not a privledge. They can drop a million dollar bomb on a building with the promise of spending another 2 million to rebuild it. They need to take care of our tax paying military families first. My brother-in-law recently retired after 25 years in the Air Force and we are literally having to fight for his VA benefits. I am glad this is finally getting the publicity it deserves, hopefully people will join all those with stories like this to a point that the Military is forced to stand up for its people and take action. My thoughts and prayers are with you. God bless each of you and your families.

My prayers are with you all. When I was in college my fiance, a Vietnam war vet, had PTSD. Ultimately he broke off our engagement because of it because, as he put it, "I'm not the man I was before I left and I don't think I will ever be whole again." The last I heard he struggled his whole life with drugs, alcohol, the law, etc. It makes me sad and angry that the military refuses to help these soldiers who are wounded within. And it saddens me that society cannot recognize that it is an illness that causes people to take these actions. Nick is not a criminal nor should he be treated like one. My heart goes out to you and I will keep you and your family in my prayers throughout this ordeal. God bless you all.

The first thing I read this morning was the story of your frienship with Mrs. Laurie Claar. I was very touched by it and thankful of people in this world that are ready to give a lending hand without judgement of any sort. I thank Nick and peole like him who make our world safer. As for you Wendy, I admire you for your stretght and deep love for Nick. Many people support and pray for you.

It is a real tragedy what these wars are doing to our troops and the follow-up treatments they are receiving/not receiving when coming home. God Bless You and your family!

I am very sorry for the issues that our government has caused your family. I wish I could give some other help but all I have is the thanks from the bottom of my heart for what your husband has done for our country and our safety. God Bless you and God will work this out. Our sodiors deserve better treatment than this for what they have done for our country. My prayers are with you and your family. I will ask my church to say a prayer for your family to.

Reading this article took me back to my childhood when my father returned from Korea. My father would wake us up in the middle of the night and acted as if he had to protect us from the Koreans (it was actually PTSD) and he would go in to combat and we were afraid but since I was a child and a sleep walker out of ignorance we all thought that my dad was having nightmare and sleep walking. It is sad that they go undiagnose after all they do for us protecting our freedom. I pray the blood of Jesus over you, your husband and family and all the military soldiers protecting our country. Blessings, Nilda

Nick is a hero and should be treated as such. There is something wrong with a society that enjoys the freedoms these young men and women are fighting for then does nothing to help them when they return to us wounded souls. I was unaware of this huge problem until I read this story I am going to check around our town and see if there are any programs in place to help our heroes. I wish all the best for you and your family. If you there is something I can do to help you in your fight to help Nick please let me know.
